Yep, the morning Safety Meeting is always an eye opener..or closer.

At the far right is Loyd Smith who's from Beaumont, Tx but living in Mauriceville, Tx. He works for NALCO. The other expat to the left is Steve Hogan an American who lives somewhere overseas (?) and he's the Facility Engineer.
The Angolans, starting at the left is Paixao and 2nd from the right is Mr. Sambo Tati the Production Foreman.

Paixao is a cool young man and an Assistant Platform Operator that I mentor to. He came to me asking to speak with me urgently. I figured oh oh, another man wanting me to bring him back something. I get asked daily to bring back laptops, Cell Phones, Watches, Diamond Rings and even a bicycle but this young man was a pleasant surprise to meet. He asked if I could possibly bring back a Bible for him and his family. He made my day!

I really wanted to add some video to this post but it takes too long to download.
Sometimes I actually have to work!
I did get to go to Malongo for a trainging course and saw Monkeys and Bats everywhere.
Will download some pictures and hopefully video from that experience...lots of bloopers too. :)~

That's cool, Dad! I have a really cool Bible that is a parallel Bible. It has NIV (New International Version) on one side and the Message translation on the other side of the page.

Just don't give the poor guy King James version or the King Jimmy as our pastor calls it. I can never get past all the thees and thousts. :)

Hey, Roger...how did I miss your blog? I just found it on H's blog. I know she told me about it, and, as a typical guy, I forgot.

I will now know what you are up to other than eating Thai food three times per day.

You would have been proud of Ethan at the Titans game. I think he realized there was an NFL game going on in or around the 3rd quarter. :)

Okay, I haven't checked to see what language they speak where you are but...if you need a Bible in their native language, we'll help you find one (unless H is already on the job).

Enjoying the blog!

Hey Sabrina,

The countries language is Portugese but this young man and his wife speak English too.

As a matter of fact most of the western educated Platform Operators speak several languages like French, English, Spanish and Portugese.
I have even met some of their Petroleum Engineers who speak German too.

Sometimes I feel kinda dumb as I only speak Texacan and a little TexMex.
